  1. Plug-ins in Starry Night
  2. Starry Night 2.0 has a new plug-in architecture that allows its functionality to be extended by third party plug-ins that are placed into Starry Night's Plug-ins folder. This new mechanism can be used to create new floating palettes, new data layers, telescope controllers, and many other as-yet-unthought-of extensions to Starry Night’s base functionality. Starry Night Deluxe 2.1 comes with two plug-ins, the LiveSky™ plug-in for connecting Starry Night to the Internet, and the InfoGenie™ plug-in for controlling telescopes and connecting with InfoGenie2.

  5. LiveSky™ Plug-in
  6. Please read the "LiveSky Read Me!" document for information about using and installing LiveSky™ for Starry Night 2.1.

  9. InfoGenie™ LX-200 Plug-in
  10. Casady and Greene, Inc. have written this plug-in to integrate their InfoGenie™ 2.0 product with Starry Night. InfoGenie 2.0 is a personal database information manager which when used in conjunction with the free InfoGenie plug-in located on this CD, allows you to integrate Starry Night with InfoGenie, perhaps by planning an evening’s observation and saving details of it in InfoGenie 2.0. InfoGenie 2.0 is available as a separate product from Casady & Greene. The free InfoGenie plug-in can also act as an LX-200 telescope controller for remotely controlling your telescope from Starry Night even if you don't own InfoGenie. To remotely control your telescope you will need to connect your Meade LX-200 compatible telescope with your Macintosh.  To install this plug-in drag the file "InfoGenie™ LX-200 Plug-in" from the CD-ROM into the "Plug-ins" folder located in your Starry Night Data folder.

  13. Connecting an LX-200 to your Macintosh

Please be aware that you should not attempt to build an interface cable if you do not have the proper experience. This pin-out diagram for connecting a Macintosh and an LX-200 is provided as a public service only. Sienna Software, Inc. in no way warrants that the diagram is free from mistakes, nor is Sienna Software in any way responsible should you decide to attempt to build such a cable and the cable ends up frying you, your Mac or your scope. If you are serious about building such a cable you should seek expert advice (which this is not). With all that said, then, here is a diagram of how we were told a cable might be built:
